THQ Nordic has announced a new Command & Conquer-esque RTS game called Tempest Rising, developed by Slipgate Ironworks in collaboration with 2B Games. No platforms or a specific release date were announced, but the game will launch at some point in 2023.
THQ Nordic announced this title during its THQ Nordic event in which it showed off some of the titles the publisher is working on over the next couple of years. Tempest Rising was one of these titles, and the game's trailer showcased some classic RTS action similar to the older Command & Conquer titles of the early naughties.

While we don't get much in the way of a potential plot, the trailer starts out with soldiers exploring a deserted battlefield covered in tentacles. It then cuts to a group of soldiers leading the charge on some enemy soldiers before transitioning into some good old-fashioned gameplay. The rest of the trailer quickly switches between a gruesome cutscene and some short snippets of the game in actions, mostly showing off the game's base-building mechanics.
Thankfully, we got a few details about the story and some of the game's features during the show. Tempest Rising is set in 1997 on an Earth that has been destroyed by the first ever nuclear war, and will give players the option to pick between three playable factions, each with their own playstyle and unique features. There are also Skirmish and Multiplayer modes that will pit you against other players via a score-based matchmaking system.
The showcase also gave us a look at several other promising titles such as a reboot of Alone in the Dark, which will take players across New York in a mysterious and terrifying new adventure.
