If you asked Indian knowledge workers to use one word to describe the technology they have used over the past two years, how many would say “empowering”? According to a recent study by Slack, the answer is most.
According to The Reinvention of Work study, 9 in 10 Indian knowledge workers said they felt empowered by the technology they used for work throughout the pandemic (92%). Most identified benefits like the ability to communicate with colleagues more easily from anywhere, as well as better collaboration, and overall, a faster and more efficient way of working. In fact, 86% said they would like to continue using the technology they adopted during the pandemic.
Technology has also played a role in strengthening workplace culture, which is especially important when employees are spread out across different locations or working remotely. According to the Slack study — based on a survey of 2,000 Indian knowledge workers in companies with over 100 employees — almost 9 in 10 Indian knowledge workers (89%) said technology allowed them to feel like they were part of the team, despite working remotely.
The productivity strain of app proliferation
As companies design their future workplace, it’s clear that technology will continue to play a critical role. That’s why it’s important for businesses to solve the technical challenges employees are facing now to set them up for success in the future.
According to the Slack study, while respondents were largely happy with the apps they used for work, having to switch between them had been a drain on their productivity. With Indian knowledge workers using 10 workplace apps a day on average, respondents said they had been wasting 10 hours every week just navigating between these apps,
