RedDeer.Games is primarily known for publishing Switch titles such as Sword & Bones, Little Bug, and Aloof, but today it has announced its delve into NFTs. This could mark the beginning of NFT games on the Switch, especially given Nintendo's own "interest".
"The trend of producing games based on blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens is more and more common," the publisher penned in an open letter (thanks, NintendoLife). "At RedDeer.Games, the process of implementing NFTs will start with simple forms such as trading on the OpenSea platform, to more advanced ones, such as the play-to-earn model, which allows players to earn.

"The next step will be to create an ecosystem that will allow users to make greater use of DeFi's capabilities and enjoy the transformation to web 3.0," the letter continued. "It will all take some time, but the 'future is now' and the NFT is a part of it."
The letter fails to address the environmental concerns of NFTs and cryptocurrency which use an incredibly harmful amount of energy. It also states that RedDeer.Games will use OpenSea to trade, the most popular NFT marketplace, but this is a marketplace that has come under scrutiny lately. Artists are continuing to share stories of their work being stolen and turned into NFTs with little being done by OpenSea to combat the growing issue.
But rather than addressing these controversies, RedDeer.Games has asked for further investment in lieu of its NFT push:
