Another day, another demake…sort of. A pixel artist on Twitter has shared what GameCube classic Super Mario Sunshine would have looked like if Nintendo had ported it to the Game Boy Advance. The image shows off the game’s central area, Delfino Plaza, created in the handheld system’s 32-bit graphics.
This pixelated Mario comes from artist @huttaburger on Twitter. Along with the image, the artist joked that if Super Mario Sunshine had actually been ported to the Game Boy Advance when it was released back in 2002, it would have been altered slightly, which can be seen in a ton of Game Boy Advance ports of the time. Still, it is fun to imagine how a Mario Sunshine game would have played on the handheld console.

Series like Sonic the Hedgehog, The Legend of Zelda, and the original Donkey Kong have all been reimagined in different pixels and for different consoles. While you cannot play the games, it is neat to see how the games are influenced by the technology of their time.
Although a Game Boy Advance remake doesn't exist, you can at least play Super Mario Sunshine Super Mario 3D All-Stars. The collection, which was released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch back in 2020, brings a few classic Mario adventures to the console, including Sunshine, although is curiously missing Super Mario Galaxy 2. At least the game has added GameCube
