Super Bomberman R 2 Adds Battle Royale to Traditional Multiplayer Action
Yup, it’s him. Bomberman and his brothers (and possibly sisters?) are back, showing that Konami can still make new video games sometimes. adds several new modes to the arcade action that the series is known for, including tower defense sections (Castle mode) and a battle royale mode first seen in the free-to-play .
A trailer for the game showed up at Nintendo’s recent Direct Mini. Konami later confirmed that the game would be making its way to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as well as the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2023.
As with most games, focuses on a frantic maze game where players have to avoid bombs planted by other players while outrunning a collapsing arena. A single-player campaign rounds out the multiplayer suite, including new to the series boss battles and the aforementioned tower defense additions. Multiplayer can be played in the explosive free for all, in teams via a Grand Prix mode, or against 64 players in the battle royale component.
