Summit1g's Criticism Suggests Elden Ring's Open World Could Be Divisive
Elden Ring has gotten a ton of praise since it was released last week. However it appears that no matter how beloved Elden Ring is by the general public, Jaryd «Summit1g» Lazar can't be counted as anything close to a fan just yet.
In the numerous reviews that have sung the praises of Elden Ring, critics and fans have pointed to a wide variety of things that they believe makes the game so good. Right at the top of the list is that Elden Ring offers up an open world, which is something that is a bit of a change from most of the FromSoftware games. While the majority of the gaming public seems to be enjoying the fact that this game has a much more open world than games from the developer in the past, Summit1g is the exact opposite. He's got a real problem with the way the game's open world is set up.

In one recent stream, Lazar actually «rage-quit» Elden Ring after only playing it for a couple of minutes. He explained that he in fact, found the open world setup for this kind of game «stupid» and «useless.» He added that it was a good thing that the game allows players to ride a horse, because they need it in order to traverse the massive map.
Summit1g said that he absolutely does need the horse, because there are a lot of useless areas that players are going to have to travel across. He also said that the setup for Elden Ring is why he doesn't like open world games period. The fact that sometimes people have to just roam around and do nothing, searching for action, isn't something the Twitch streamer enjoys.
