In celebration of Street Fighter's 35th anniversary, the Fornite Item Shop will soon receive an update featuring Blanka and Sakura content that includes skins and accessories. The popular battle royale from Epic Games isn't the only major title honoring Capcom's iconic series this year. In January, for example, Smash Bros. Ultimate held a Street Fighter 35th anniversary Spirit Board event, which added Evil Ryu as a brand-new spirit.
Street Fighter first hit the market in the summer of 1987 as an arcade fighting game, with Ryu serving as the central figure who must compete in the titular tournament. The fighter quickly spawned a few sequels and spinoff titles, many of them proving successful enough to launch Street Fighter into the stratosphere in terms of commercial success. Notably, the long-running Capcom franchise has moved an impressive 47-plus million units worldwide, according to a sales update from the publisher in September 2021. Considering Street Fighter's incredible staying power, it's no wonder other brands are eager to honor its milestone year.
