The Windows 11 2022 Update (version 22H2) has brought several new features including a Start App Control (SAC). This new security feature is an AI-powered tool that intelligently blocks untrusted and unknown apps. It even blocks malicious and untrusted applications to get access to the device. It also prevents adwares that can slow down computer performance, and stops them from installing unsolicited software. Once enabled, the feature checks the digital certificate to verify the developer's identity and confirm that the concerned app is not tampered. Also, it uses the Microsoft cloud-powered technology service to check if the app is safe or not based on many signals.
Here's how you can enable and disable Smart App Control on your Windows 11 (version 22H2) computer
Step 1: Open Start on your Windows 11 laptop.
Step 2: Search for Smart App Control and click the top result to open the app.
Step 3: Now, confirm the Smart App Control status.
On your Windows 11 laptop running the 22H2 version, click on the Windows key and search for “smart app“.
Now, open “Smart App Control” and it will open the SAC settings under Windows Security. There, click on “Smart App Control settings.”
Now, turn on Smart App Control and it’s done.
In case you want to disable Smart App Control on Windows 11, do note that, once you turn it off, you can't re-enable the feature unless you perform a fresh reinstall of the Windows 11 22H2 laptop. But if you want all-around protection on your PC, you can reset Windows 11 via the cloud to get the latest version.
