Sam Witwer of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed fame recently commented on 2020's Ghost of Tsushima, likening it to a Jedi video game. Ghost of Tsushima, which might have a sequel on the way, received heaps of praise upon release owing to a number of factors, not the least of which being its cinematic, emotional narrative.
Ghost of Tsushima follows the story of Jin Sakai, a samurai fighting against the Mongolian invasion of Tsushima, an island off the coast of Japan. While Jin is by no means weak at the start of his journey, players spend the adventure developing and further strengthening both his gear and his abilities as a fighter. Throughout this tale, Jin is forced to reckon with his honor and what it means to be a dutiful, traditional samurai warrior in a world of ceaseless opposition and oppression from an immensely powerful military force. Beyond the story, the game has an impressively animated and elegant combat system that is a bit reminiscent of classic Star Wars lightsaber fighting. Many gamers also feel that Ghost of Tsushima inspired Trek to Yomi, despite being released just two years ago.
