Stalker 2 has a new name. It was previously called "Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl," but the famous nuclear power plant and site of the world's worst nuclear accident has been altered to be the Ukrainian spelling. The title now reads, "Stalke 2: Heart of Chornobyl."
The name change is now live on Stalker 2's official site and the game's Steam page. The previous Russian spelling is nowhere to be found, although you can still spot it in earlier marketing on social media.

GSC Game World likely used the Russian spelling initially simply because it had greater notoriety outside of Ukraine, but ever since the Russian invasion, Ukrainians have fought back by trying to assert their culture on the global stage. That means implementing Ukrainian spellings for locations that were more commonly spelled in Russian, such as Chornobyl and Kyiv.
Besides changing the name, GSC Game World has opposed Russia by ceasing all business in the belligerent nation and has also posted links to support the Ukrainian military on the official Stalker 2 website. That move got the site banned in Russia recently--a likely mark of pride for a game developer founded in Kyiv.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing hostilities, GSC Game World decided to move its operations from Ukraine to Czechia (Czech Republic) last month. This combined invasion and then move have resulted in a pause in Stalker 2 development, although recently the studio published a video to call for more aid to Ukraine and to assure fans that Stalker 2 development is still proceeding.
