Splitgate Season 0 is finally coming to a close and to mark its end, developer 1047 Games has announced a new season that will not only kickstart the next chapter in the games' history but also the company as they strive to become more triple-A.
Season 1 will add a map maker to both PC and console, letting you create your own levels for custom matches. What's more, you can use the map maker with up to eight players - a whole group can work together on creating something. Right now, there's no way to share these maps aside from hosting a custom lobby, but 1047 Games stressed that this is something it wants to develop in the future.

Splitgate's first season is also adding a Capture the Flag mode which the developer has tried to work into the game since launch. It's finally found a version of the mode that works with Splitgate's unique, portal-based arena shooter mechanics. There's only one flag and each team takes turns between capturing and defending - if you capture successfully, you earn a point. If you defend and the other team does not capture, you earn a point. Simple.
A big part of this update is starting 1074 Games on the path to becoming a triple-A developer while also transforming Splitgate into a triple-A shooter. An integral means of doing that is expanding the studio which has already grown to a 50-person team after starting with only a few people. But it wants to go further than that.
