In an effort to improve upon the Battlefield 2042 experience, DICE and Electronic Arts have decided to delay the military shooter's Season One content to summer 2022 to make way for game fixes. Little is known about Battlefield 2042's Season One content as of writing, though EA did previously tease a new Specialist and additional Portal features without offering much in the way of specifics.
Recently datamined details seemed to provide a few more bits of information on Battlefield 2042's Season One, specifically hinting at the advent of a map called «Exposure.» The dataminer, a Twitter user named temporyal, gathered the intel from the Battlefield client, which also made note of weekly missions assigned to 12 preseason weeks. Due to the client revealing such information during the holidays, the leaker and others were led to believe Season One wouldn't go live until at least March 2022. But the myriad issues that continue to plague Battlefield 2042 suggest DICE may want to focus on ironing out the existing kinks before diving headfirst into something fresh.

Today, February 1, the official Battlefield Twitter account offered a developer update on Battlefield 2042's first season, further explored on the EA website. In DICE's effort to ensure upcoming patches prove substantial, the briefing notes that Season One will now launch in "early summer" as opposed to the first quarter of this year. Such a move allows the development crew to prioritize improving the futuristic shooter, while also guaranteeing the seasonal content boasts a high level of quality.
