Demons are the focal point in Soul Hacker 2's combat system. Demons come in various species, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. The main protagonist, Ringo, can negotiate contracts with Demons, and they will assist her in battle and exploration.
Soul Hackers 2 jumps straight into meeting different characters who become a part of the player's party. The first party member players meet is Arrow. He works for Yatagarasu, a group of Demon Summoners, and can use Demons in battle using a customized weapon called a COMP. Later, Arrow introduces Ringo to a character that teaches her how to fuse Demons.
Soul Hackers 2 Needs to Tread Carefully With Its Difficulty
Players spend most of their time in areas called dungeons that are crawling with Demons that could potentially be added to Ringo's party. As players advance and their level increases, more Demons become available.
In certain instances, a Demon will refuse to travel with Summoners. If Ringo is a lower level than it, already traveling with that specific Demon, or she has too many Demons in her party, the negotiation ends with the Demon leaving behind an item or money.
The dungeons aren't the only way to get Demons. Demon Fusion comes into play when Ringo travels to Cirque du Goumaden and meets Victor. Cirque du Goumaden is located in the Roppo realm and is very important for players when it comes to getting new Demons.
Only very powerful Demon Summoners have access to the Roppo realm. When the circus-themed location is made available to players, we learn that Victor specializes in Demon summoning and fusion.
