Nomura has revealed that Sora's design in Kingdom Hearts 4 "still isn't finalised".
One of the biggest shocks to come from the Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal trailer, aside from the fact that Kingdom Hearts 4 actually exists, was Sora's brand new look for Quadratum. This new design has an entirely new outfit and changes how he's shaded to look much more realistic. Although there's been much debate over Sora's new look, which Nomura has revealed will only be for Quadratum, you might want to wait a little before casting judgement, as there's still some work to be done.

In an interview with Famitsu that was translated by KHInsider, Nomura spoke about the new design and how it makes Sora look more mature and realistic, saying, "Even when we were working on KHIII, there were discussions within the team about how realistic we should make the characters. We certainly could have made the hair silky smooth in KHIII if we wanted to. This time, since we are starting anew with the Lost Master Arc, we decided to make some drastic changes. The [characters'] appearances also match the nature of the world [they're in]."
Nomura was then asked if the design had been finalised yet, to which he said, "No, not yet. There may still be some finer changes, such as with the details. As for the silhouette, I think it'll be similar to the one in this trailer."
Although this is good news for anyone who isn't a massive fan of Sora's Quadratum look, Nomura's wording here actually has some interesting implications. In previous interviews when he's talked about the new look, it could be assumed that he meant both the outfit and shading for Sora are only for Quadratum.
