Sony revealed during its State of Play showcase last night that Baldur's Gate 3 will be making its way to PS5 along with the PC version on 31st August 2023. Since an Xbox Series X|S version hasn't been confirmed in the time since the news broke, many have assumed Sony has paid for console exclusivity. However, this isn't the case.
A PR representative tells Push Square there's no exclusivity tied to the game's launch. «Right now Larian is planning to release Baldur’s Gate 3 for PC, Mac, GeForce NOW, and PS5. That said, they don't have exclusivity and will announce support for additional platforms if and when they’re ready.»
Baldur's Gate 3 has been in early access for a while now on PC, and 31st August 2023 marks its full debut on both the personal computer and PS5. As the quote suggests, Larian Studios still appears free to release the game on competing platforms.
