While looking for a good smart speaker, we often have to choose the trade off, either between smartness or audio quality. For example, some of the speakers pack all the cutting-edge IoT stuff but they lack the sound quality that you expect from a high-end big speaker. But Sonos One doesn’t force users to choose between smart technology and excellent sound quality. I have been using it for weeks now and I can say that Sonos One is certainly one of the best smart speakers on the market for the price it sells. The smart speaker is effectively the same as the Sonos Play:1, however, it comes with the added benefit of a microphone array that allows users to use it with a voice assistant. The design of Sonos One is based on the company’s existing Play:1 smart speaker, however, it offers a number of improvements. The top of the speaker has a touch-sensitive surface that allows you to swipe right or left, skips forward and backwards through your current playlist. You can even play and pause your music by tapping in the center of the surface as well as raise and lower the volume.
The physical controls are pretty nice when you want to quickly skip a track and adjust voice.
Sonos has equipped the speaker with six internal microphones that can hear you even at low voice. You just need to ask ‘Hey, Jude’ just one more time. Moreover, the speaker also got a power-indicating LED alongside a small light to let you know when Alexa is listening.
