The mercenary battalions of Barya are famous in Songs Of Conquest's world for their combat prowess and their strict adherence to the letter of their contracts. The Baryans will always carry out the task for which they are commissioned - nothing more, and nothing less.

A Baryan army needs to work as a cohesive unit to achieve victory, from pike-and-shot formations to hammer-and-anvil flanking maneuvers. Barya also boasts the most advanced technology in Songs Of Conquest, having mastered gunpowder and metallurgy. They tend to have an easier time with research than other factions, allowing them to field quality, well-equipped soldiers in large numbers.

Baryan troops work in tandem with one another, with humans holding the line and providing fire support while goblinoid harima deal heavy damage in melee. Their easily-acquired Order and Destruction Essences give their spellcasters the ability to wield magic for offense and defense in equal measure.

Barya has to rely on its medium-sized recruitment buildings much more than other factions, which is saying something. Dreaths can handle most enemies in the early game, but are vulnerable to ranged attacks, while Pipers are all but useless until upgraded.
