To say that the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community is aggressively excited about the game would be an understatement, and a similar statement could be made regarding the Fire Emblem: Three Houses community. The announcement of Fire Emblem: Three Houses protagonist Byleth for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster joined these two excitable groups together in a joint celebration. Now, on the two-year anniversary of Byleth's roster announcement, fans are once again sharing their excitement online.
Byleth has been trending on Twitter this Sunday due to the anniversary of the protagonist's announcement for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster. Fans are sharing fan art, memes, hopes for the character's future, and all manner of other messages. Several thousand Twitter posts including Byleth's name have been posted over the past day or so. Some fans are even going so far as calling today, January 16, Byleth day in celebration of the event.

This all goes back to January 16, 2020, when Byleth was originally announced for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Byleth is, as fans well know, actually two different characters. There are both masculine and feminine versions of Byleth, which players are able to choose between at the start of Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate added both versions of Byleth to the game for players to choose from. The character was then released on January 28, servthe fifth DLC fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's first Fighter Pass.
The celebration of Byleth is also clearly being done in part due to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players mourning the end of similar announcements.
