Like its predecessor, Slime Rancher 2 is a cozy farming and exploration sim players can get lost in for hours. Beatrix LaBeau finds herself on Rainbow Island, a colorful paradise ripe with slimes, minerals, and resources for players to discover.
Players can jump in and start collecting slimes or spend more time traveling along the island. Slime Rancher 2 has many new areas to unlock and explore, each with new slime species and valuable materials, but it can be quite the undertaking on foot. Players can upgrade their equipment in a few ways, but one of the most useful is getting the Jetpack.
Slime Rancher 2: Best Upgrades To Get First
Players can complete upgrades in The Lab. The Lab is located inside the Conservatory underground and is home to the Fabricator and Refinery. Players must activate the Fabricator to build the Jetpack. The Jetpack allows players to jump higher and glide for a short time. This is helpful for finding resources in hard-to-reach spots or avoiding confrontational slimes. Once energy hits 0, players will fall, but they can also upgrade their Power Core at the Fabricator to use the Jetpack longer. The Plorts and Radiant Ore must be inserted into the Refinery for players to use in the Fabricator. The Refinery is a storage system for Plorts and other Resources to be used for fabricating. There are a few portals around Rainbow Island, so players can deposit items into the Refinery without returning to the Conservatory.
