If there's one thing that can be said about Skyrim, it's that it's certainly stood the test of time. With The Elder Scrolls 6 allegedly still in pre-production, the fifth installment in Bethesda's epic RPG franchise is still getting a lot of time in the spotlight. Much of this is due to the modding community, which is consistently pumping out new ideas at a rate of knots. Some of these go so far as to bring the decade-old title into the modern era.
As spotted by PCGamesN, user dTry has uploaded a new mod for Skyrim which seeks to overhaul one of the game's biggest assets, namely the combat. Regardless of whether players like the fighting mechanics in the game or not, «Valhalla Combat» overhauls it to make it more like something a bit more contemporary. In the description, the modder describes this project as being inspired by the likes of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Elden Ring, and God of War. A video shows the mod in action, and it does indeed look a lot more modern, with more fluid fighting, and the ability to parry and stun enemies.

Melee combat is essential in many video games, and the likes of the aforementioned titles are notorious for having good mechanics on this front. The good thing about «Valhalla Combat,» according to its creator, is that it works well in both first and third person. It's also not finished yet, apparently as dTry apparently plans to keep adding to their mod, with the goal of making a much more «comprehensive combat system.» Plans are afoot to implement additional features, or perhaps even turn new ideas into separate mods themselves.
