Former Bethesda Game Studios artist Nate Purkeypile recently unveiled The Axis Unseen, a heavy metal and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim-inspired open-world hunting sim. Purkeypile worked as an artist at Bethesda on multiple projects from 2007 to 2021; in fact, some may recall that he's the developer who divulged details about the initial plans for Skyrim's opening sequence.
In addition to his work as a Senior World Artist and Lighting Artist on Skyrim, Purkeypile's credits also include multiple Fallout projects. He served in the role of World Artist on both Fallout 3 andFallout 4, then climbed the ranks to assume the Lead Artist position on 2018's Fallout 76. Prior to joining Bethesda, the developer cut his teeth as World Artist on the likes of Metroid Prime 3 before performing similar duties during production on Terminal Reality's BloodRayne 2. Needless to say, Nate Purkeypile has enjoyed quite an impressive career. His newest project makes it seems as though the fun is just beginning, however.

Nate Purkeypile's game studio, Just Purkey Games, announced The Axis Unseen last month, showcasing a roughly 90-second trailer that depicts the hunting sim in action. Described as a "heavy metal open-world horror hunting game," The Axis Unseen will task players with tracking folklore-inspired monsters across a world lost outside of time. Upgrades for the bow and the player character's senses should come in handy during the adventure, though users will want to return to shelter before darkness falls lest the predator becomes prey.
