Launching later this year, the pirate game Skull and Bones gets new gameplay details at Ubisoft Forward, including a look at ship customization and combat. After a lengthy and turbulent development period at Ubisoft Shanghai, the upcoming open world pirate title Skull and Bones is quickly sailing towards it's early November launch. Since it's official re-reveal earlier this year, Ubisoft has continued to reveal new information about the game, and that trend continued at today's Ubisoft Forward showcase.
Fans looking forward to Skull and Bones were treated to a variety of new content, from a CG story trailer, to a gameplay focused video detailing plenty of new information. Ship customization was a major part of the showcase as Creative Director Elisabeth Pellen revealed how players can truly alter their ship. The first reveal came with the different weapons that can be applied all over, from the stern, bow, center, and both sides. Each weapon type such as a torpedo launcher, classic cannons, bombards, and more, feature different stats that impact the ship like Firepower, Max Range, and Reload Speed as well as how effective damage is against certain ship features.

Following that, Skull and Bones players can select their armor, not only for visual flair, but to provide protection as well. Again, players can customize each side of their ship using a variety of materials like leather, wood, and steel, each with their own bonuses. For example, equipping Leather Armor III may give players a boost in armor from traditional weapons, but it increases hostility on NPC enemies by 50%. Better yet, the menu is dynamic, altering the visuals of the ship as if an invisible hand was dropping
