It turns out The Simpsons predicted the existence of the manga One-Punch Man 10 years before the character appeared for the first time. The Simpsons' ability to predict trends and events years before they happen is a long-standing joke in popular culture, and it seems that it extends to the Simpsons comics too.
Over the course of its four decades-spanning TV show, The Simpsons has shown a lot of things that would actually happen in the real world years later, such as Lady Gaga's flying entrance at the Super Bowl, Toys «R» Us closing down, Disney buying 20th Century Fox, and the most infamous of them all, Donald Trump becoming President of the United States (this one no less than 15 years in advance). The Simpsons, however, also spawned many comic books, including Simpsons Comics, a long-running series that lasted from 1993 to 2019. It's only natural, then, that some of the crazy Simpsons predictions would happen in the comics too. One of these happens to be about One-Punch Man, the webcomic created by One and later adapted into a hugely successful digital manga illustrated by Yusuke Murata.

Simpsons Comics #43 contains a story titled «Poochie!» written and penciled by Scott Shaw, featuring the titular character, a cartoon dog that was originally created for the in-universe cartoon The Itchy & Scratchy Show. Poochie was a failure and was immediately killed, and the comic story plays on that, presenting a series of leftover «Poochie ideas» that the Itchy and Scratchy studios found laying around. One of these concept sketches is called «One-Punch Poochie,» and features a muscular version of the dog, dressed in a superhero outfit complete with a cape.
