Apple is releasing a vital day-one iOS update for anyone planning to setup an iPhone 14 or iPhone 14 Pro.
As 9To5Mac reports(Opens in a new window), the first batch of iPhone 14 handsets are shipping with an old version of iOS 16. Apple discovered it contains a few bugs that can cause problems with activation and migration during the setup of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. With that in mind, it's really important a new iPhone 14-specific iOS 16.0.1 update is installed as a first priority on your new iPhone.
Apple can't automatically install this iOS update, so it's up to the user to trigger it. However, your iPhone will detect and prompt you to install it before setting up the handset, so it should be a hassle-free process. After that, you can spend hours editing the lock screen to make it yours.
The same update is being made available for the iPhone 14 Pro Max because it includes a fix for a bug that makes photos appear "soft" when zooming in landscape orientation. There is also a problem with enterprise single sign-on apps failing to authenticate, which this update solves.
