Publisher Devolver Digital has deployed an all-new gameplay trailer showcasing the brutality of Trek to Yomi's incredible-looking combat mechanics. Announced last summer for a nebulous 2022 release date, Trek to Yomi's Ghost of Tsushima-like qualities immediately caught the attention of the game-buying public. Unlike the Sucker Punch Productions title, though, this particular samurai game is a black and white side-scroller.
Trek to Yomi stars Hiroki, a young swordsman who promised his dying Master that he would spend his life protecting his town from any and all threats. The duty-bound samurai faces many challenges while staying true to this promise. And while most obstacles can be overcome so long as Hiroki strikes true with his blade, cursory details about the title's overarching plot suggest the journey ahead will take him beyond life and death. Following Trek to Yomi's recent State of Play appearance, Devolver Digital and developer Flying Wild Hog have decided to upload yet another look at the eagerly-anticipated action game, which remains on track for a 2022 rollout.

The latest trailer for Trek to Yomi revolves around combat. Devolver Digital unleashed roughly one minute of gameplay footage yesterday, March 16, offering a closer glimpse at Hiroki's swordsmanship, as well as his skills with a bow and arrow. It's all rather brutal, too. Heads fly off of shoulders following well-timed strikes, enemies fall to their knees after taking a sword to the gut, and blood flies freely whenever Hiroki really gets going. Needless to say, this is one side-scroller that fans of visceral combat mechanics won't want to miss when it releases sometime this year.
