Since it first launched in 2019, Apex Legends has been one of the most popular battle royale games, and three years later, the game is still looking to produce new content, characters, maps and more to keep players interested with fresh updates. Already the popularity of Apex Legends is clear to see, as it ranked second on Twitter's most tweeted about games list, whereas rival battle royale Fortnite managed to snag the number 10 spot.
Currently, Apex Legends is wrapping up its 11th season, which alongside introducing new cosmetics and a season badge, brought the new character Ash from Titanfall 2. With constant updates and new seasons, fans have been wondering when an important upgrade will be making its way to Apex Legends in the form of a next-gen version of the game.
Apex Legends Added 28 Million New Players Last Year
Considering the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launched at the end of 2020, some fans have been wondering for a while when they'll be able to take use the enhanced hardware of the next-gen consoles to play Apex Legends. According to one leaker on Twitter, Respawn may have just confirmed that not only is a next-gen Apex Legends experience on the way, but it will also be coming sooner than expected.
Twitter user Alpha Intel posted that Respawn had told press the next-gen update for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S is coming «very, very shortly.» Not only will the version be coming soon, but fans will be treated to a «bunch of new features» according to Alpha Intel. What these new features will be is currently unknown, however, Respawn has shared that a 120 FPS version of Apex Legends is a priority. Frame rate is often a focus of multiplayer titles, though some enhanced graphics and 4K would be welcome
