The upcoming sequel to Rogue Legacy, a standout indie rogue-lite from 2013, was initially released into early access back in August 2020, with a final release promised sometime in the future. Developer Cellar Door Games has now announced that Rogue Legacy 2 is ready to release version 1.0, more than two years after the Rogue Legacy sequel was revealed.
While fans have been waiting since 2020 for Rogue Legacy 2 to hit 1.0, Cellar Door Games has been working since 2018 to bring this sequel to life. It's a long time coming for both the studio and fans.

According to Cellar Door Games, Rogue Legacy 2 will release on April 28th, 2022 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Before release, players can also still purchase the title in early access and dive into what the developer has made available to early adopters since the latest update.
Additionally, the original Rogue Legacy will be free on Epic Games Store leading up to the official launch of the sequel. So, there is already a large amount of content for players to dive into right now, as they wait for version 1.0 to finally release in full.
While the new game promises to bring new enemies, locations, and bosses to the Rogue Legacy series, this sequel comes with some huge improvements on top of what fans already expect. Cellar Door Games boasts a metroidvania-style progression system, with items that will unlock deeper secrets in Rogue Legacy 2's castle setting.
