The first Roar trailer arrives revealing the new star-studded feminist anthology series from GLOW creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. Based on Cecelia Ahern's short story collection of the same name, the show explores women's experiences in the modern society through the lens of darkly comedic feminist fables. Roar spans a number of genres through its eight episodes, including psychological horror and magical realism, with a range of tales including a woman dating a duck, a woman eating photographs and a ghost trying to solve her own murder.
Roar features an ensemble roster of award-winning talent led by Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, Tony winner Cynthia Erivo, Emmy nominee Issa Rae, Emmy winner Merritt Wever, Golden Globe nominee Alison Brie, Emmy nominee Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart and Kara Hayward. Development on the series was first announced in mid-2018 with Flahive and Mensch signing on to develop and showrun the adaptation and Kidman attached to produce via her Blossom Films banner, with Apple TV+ later acquiring the rights in 2021 and signing the GLOW duo to an exclusive deal with the streamer. With production on Roar having concluded this past August, Apple is giving the first look at the upcoming series.
