The Real Housewives of Dallas star Tiffany Moon was cast in season 5 as the first Asian-American on the show and she recently revealed that her conversation with Brandi Redmond about her racist video was forced by producers. Tiffany was introduced to the RHOD cast by D’Andra Simmons, who became a housewife in season 2. Tiffany’s debut into the RHOD world wasn’t so smooth. She was often criticized for being uptight and a know-it-all. However, the anesthesiologist shared that she was socially awkward because she didn’t have much of a social life growing up and faced racism from her schoolmates.
RHOD star Brandi Redmond was in the headlines prior to filming season 5 due to a racist video that resurfaced of her mocking Asians and calling her eyes “squinty.” Although the video was three years old and was quickly deleted, it was shared again in 2020. RHOD fans were outraged at Brandi’s insensitivity and she issued an apology for her offensive actions. During the first episode of season 5, Brandi tearfully shared how she received so much backlash for the video, that she spiraled into a depression and had to check herself into a facility.

After Brandi opened up to the group about her struggles following the video, Tiffany had a one-on-one chat with her and shared how she felt about it. However, Tiffany just shared on David Yontef’s podcast Behind the Velvet Rope that the RHOD producers forced her to talk to Brandi about the video. She revealed, “While we were in between filming, Brandi’s video came out, and then the very first all-cast event I filmed for, the producers were like, ‘We want you to talk to Brandi about her video.’” Tiffany told the
