Resident Evil 7 on iOS is seemingly off to a slow start, according to sales estimates.
According to analysis by Mobilegamer.biz based on estimates from Appfigures, the game has been just over 83,000 times since it was released in July. In order to unlock the full game, players must pay £20/$20.
According to Appfigures, Capcom has earned $28,140 from the game. This figure is prior to the 30% cut that Apple takes being deducted from the figures. Once deducted, it leaves a figure that suggests that “even with some generous rounding up, you land at under 2,000 paying customers,” according to Mobilegamer.
In June, it was suggested that ports of Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage all had similarly slow launches. At the time, Appmagic head of content Andrei Zubov told Mobilegamer.biz that he believed the outlook for console games on Apple’s devices wasn’t positive.
“Looking at the top-performing mobile premium games, we can see that many are originally indie titles. These games typically feature simpler controls, prioritize unique art styles over high-end graphics, and are suited for shorter play sessions.
“These are the usual attributes of successful free-to-play mobile games,” he added, before pointing out that the audience for these games is very likely to already own a modern console capable of playing them.
Currently, Resident Evil 7 costs $20/£20 on mobile platforms. On PlayStation 4 it is possible to purchase a copy of the game for £13.99, includeing all of its DLC. A PS5 upgrade for the game is also available for free for players with Sony‘s latest console.
