Capcom has finally revealed that the Resident Evil 4 remake is real and will be launching on PS5 in 2023, though it seems the title will be skipping a last-gen PS4 release. The existence of the Resident Evil 4 remake has leaked several times in the past, with a massive Capcom leak revealing the identity of many games and ports that were later confirmed to be true.
The importance of Resident Evil 4 cannot be understated, as it's considered to be one of the greatest action games of all time, and helped revitalize the Resident Evil series, allowing it to move away from its stagnating survival horror roots, into something that was more dynamic. Capcom has been remaking lots of Resident Evil titles over the past few years, with both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 being revived on modern platforms, but Resident Evil 4 has been ported to so many systems (including modern ones, like Resident Evil 4 VR on Oculus Quest 2), so there was a question whether a remake was even needed, especially when games like Resident Evil — Code: Veronica arguablyneed the remake treatment even more.

Leon S. Kennedy's greatest adventure is finally being remade after all of these years. Capcom revealed during Sony's State of Play event that Resident Evil 4 is coming to PS5 on March 24, 2023, and PSVR 2 content for the game is also in development. The trailer showed off protagonist Kennedy facing his fears once again, this time for current-gen systems. The video can be seen below.
