Capcom revealed during the Capcoom Showcase 2022 event that the current-gen upgrades for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard are available to download today, June 13, for free for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The previous console generation saw the release of a number of new Resident Evil titles, with Resident Evil Village being cross-gen, as it launched at the beginning of the latest console era.
It was revealed earlier in the year that three Resident Evil games would receive free upgrades. The people who own the PS4 or Xbox One versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 can download a free upgraded version of the games on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. Those who own the games on disc will need to own the relevant disc version of the new console. The upgrades for the three games will also be available to PC players. These upgrades are purely technical and will not be adding any new content to the games.
