It has been a very eventful year for Capcom, especially for its Resident Evil franchise. During the Sony State of Play event in June, plenty of upcoming Resident Evil projects were revealed. Notably, Resident Evil Village will be receiving a VR port for PS VR2, and it is scheduled to launch after the headset is released. This is not the only content the game will be receiving, as gamers can also look forward to Resident Evil Village DLC which will arrive in October. Gamers can also expect the long-rumored Resident Evil 4 Remake to release in 2023.
The Resident Evil 4 Remake announcement will not come as a surprise to anyone who has been following Capcom for a while, as the studio has been hard at work for years porting and remaking its classic Resident Evil titles. It would be foolish for Capcom to stop now, as the remakes have been commercial and critical successes. Rather, other studios should also follow suit and make their most beloved franchises as widely available as possible.
