The Resident Evil 4 remake is officially coming to PlayStation 4, with more information on the game to come at a special showcase that Capcom is hosting in October. The Resident Evil 4 remake has been rumored for years, but Capcom finally gave the project its official announcement this past June. After announcing the Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom also confirmed its March 24, 2023 release date and that it would be launching for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
Capcom made no mention of older consoles, and so many assumed that the Resident Evil 4 remake would be a proper, next-gen only release. On one hand, this would mean the Resident Evil 4 remake wouldn't be held back by the limitations of older consoles, but on the other hand, it would mean that some gamers would simply be missing out if they still haven't been able to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X.
Resident Evil 4 Remake Could Be Making a Huge Gameplay Change
However, Capcom has now confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 remake is also going to be available for PlayStation 4 at launch. Capcom confirmed as much during its Tokyo Game Show 2022 presentation, but stopped short of showing the PS4 version of the game in action. Those interested in seeing more of the Resident Evil 4 remake will have to tune in to the special Resident Evil showcase in October, though a specific date and time for that event was not announced. Dedicated Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions of the game weren't announced either, which is surprising since the game is coming to PS4.
