Resident Evil 4 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 headline PlayStation's State of Play showcase

Sony has kicked off this year's wave of summer games announcements with tonight's State of Play showcase, starting with the long-rumoured Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Capcom is once again overhauling a mainline entry in its flagship series, this time 2005's seminal Resident Evil 4. The game will launch on March 24, 2023 and Sony confirmed there was additional content specifically for PlayStation VR2 now in development.
The platform holder showed trailers for a few more PS VR2 titles, including a virtual reality version of Resident Evil Village, No Man's Sky, and The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution. The latter carried a release date of 2022, suggesting Sony's new headset will be on shelves by the end of the year -- although no official release date was given.
Sony also released a new trailer for Horizon: Call of the Mountain, which was announced earlier this year. Meanwhile, a free update for Horizon: Forbidden West -- which adds, among other things, a New Game+ mode, is available now.
PlayStation's expansion into PC continues on August 12 as a remaster of the acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man arrives on Steam and Epic Games Store.
Sony's showcase also revealed the first gameplay footage for Capcom's Street Fighter 6, due to launch in 2023, a look at The Callisto Protocol, which debuts December 2 this year, and a new trailer plus confirmation that Square Enix's much anticipated Final Fantasy 16 will arrive in Summer 2023.
Indies also got their moment in the spotlight. A new trailer for cyberpunk cat game Stray, published by Annapurna Interactive, revealed the game launches on July 19 for PS4 and PS5 -- and subscribers to the Premium and Extra tiers of PlayStation
