Remnant: From The Ashes, a third-person shooter with a sizable cult following, might be getting a sequel soon as developer Gunfire Games seems to have trademarked key phrases with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
First spotted by Redditor LongJonSiIver and shared to the LeaksAndRumors subreddit, an image of what appears to be a "Remnant 2" trademark can be seen, filed by Gunfire Games. A trip to the United States Patent and Trademark Office website reveals that this trademark is legitimate, as is another trademark for "Remnant: From The Ashes 2."

While fans will understandably get excited hearing this, it doesn't necessarily mean that a sequel is one the way. Gunfire Games making a sequel isn't too far-fetched a thing to believe, but a trademark could indicate any number of possibilities. For example, it could just be Gunfire Games filing trademarks for a sequel just in case they do decide to make one, ensuring that nobody pinches the phrase in the mean time. It could also mean that a sequel is planned, but not for many, many years.
If you've never heard of Remnant: From the Ashes, the game is a third-person shooter with shades of Dark Souls. It came out way back in the good ol' days of 2019 and received a next-gen upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X last year. It tasks you and some friends with taking down an alien entity known as The Root that has managed to wipe out and destory most of Earth. Through procedurally generated levels, its up to you and your crew to find a man that holds the key to defeating the root once and for all.
