The Redmi K50 Gaming Edition is set to launch on February 16 and just before that, Redmi has released a few teaser posters. One of them has shown how the phone looks from the rear. And surprise surprise! There’s not enough difference from the Redmi K40 series. The phone continues to have its signature LED light rings around the camera but this time in more angular lines instead of semi-circular patterns. Looks like the Poco F4 GT won’t look that different.
The Poco F4 GT, err, Redmi K50 Gaming edition also continues to have a shoulder trigger keys similar to its predecessor. Redmi also confirms a new blue colour for the phone. Other that these, there’s not a lot revealed by Xiaomi. Other teasers keep on screaming about its gaming oriented performance credentials.
Rumours have suggested that the Redmi K50 Gaming could use MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 chipset. The 4nm Dimensity 9000 succeeds the Dimensity 1200 from last year but brings tremendous performance upgrades. In fact, this chip has the same CPU cores as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MediaTek promises top-levels of performance.
What remains to be seen is how the rest of the Redmi K50 lineup shapes up. The Redmi K series makes it to India in various guise and this year, it could also end up as rebadged Xiaomi 12 series devices. Last year, the Redmi K40 and Redmi K40 Pro+ ended up in India as the Xiaomi Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro. The Redmi K40 Gaming came here as the Poco F3 GT.
While the Chinese market is getting high-performance Xiaomi phones, India is currently getting a revamped budget and midrange Xiaomi portfolio. The Redmi Note 11 series debuted recently with 4G-only connectivity, consisting of a Redmi Note 11 and a Redmi Note 11S. Xiaomi is yet to reveal the Redmi Note 11
