Although most work is done on our computer screens these days, it’s hard to work from home without a printer and scanner. The need still arises from time to time to print out a document or photo, or to scan something to your computer or phone to store, manipulate, or share.
Printers and scanners come in a variety of shapes and sizes, from the most popular device type—the color inkjet all-in-one that combines printing and scanning—to more single-purpose devices, such as monochrome laser printers and sheetfed document scanners. In this month’s PCMag Readers’ Choice award survey, you rate the printers and scanners that you use at home on a variety of measures. Read on to see which brands our readers recommend the most.

Once again, the company wins our Readers’ Choice award as it has done every year since the end of the aughts. For those unfamiliar with our Readers’ Choice award, we survey our readers on the products they use, here asking them to rate their satisfaction with several aspects of their printer usage on a scale from 0 (extremely dissatisfied) to 10 (extremely satisfied).
When we lump all our readers’ ratings together, regardless of the type of printer they use, Brother earns the top score on more than half of the measures, including the two that we consider most important: overall satisfaction, where Brother’s 8.7 is more than half a point better than its closest rival, Epson
