Niles of the Will It Work? YouTube channel is back on his Power Glove power trip, first getting it to work on the Nintendo Switch and then the Xbox Series S. Now he’s back with a PS5 to showcase the 1989 hardware working on Sony’s latest, although it proved to be the most problematic of the three modern consoles.
Starting with the same NES to USB adapter as before, Niles found that the Titan One's ability to adapt any controller for modern consoles was sorely tested on the PS5. That's largely due to the PS5 being programmed to re-authenticate its controller every eight minutes. This re-authentication process breaks the chain of adapters Niles used to get the Power Glove working on the PS5, meaning that you'll only be able to play any particular game for eight minutes at a time.

But that’s still enough time to see the Power Glove playing both Returnal and Astro’s Playroom. As with Halo Infinite on the Xbox Series S, the Power Glove’s lack of a right analog stick equivalent made Returnal unplayable as you can’t really do anything to change where Selene is looking. The Titan One adaptor maps the Power Glove’s fingers as slider inputs, so they’re entirely useless for the PS5.
Things get a little better with Astro’s Playroom. You can’t control the camera, but the default camera settings in Astro’s Playroom are good enough that Niles was able to get pretty far before being forced to quit.
