PS1 games coming to PS4 and PS5 through the new PlayStation Plus tiers will seemingly include options for a CRT filter, gameplay rewind, and more new features.
Listings on the Malaysian PlayStation Store have appeared ahead of the revamped PlayStation Plus service launching in Asia on May 24, with options to buy some PS1 games separately.
As spotted by ResetEra user brokenswiftie, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Worms World Party, and Worms Armageddon are all listed as PS1 Emulations ranging in price from the equivalent of $5 to $10. The first two cost 20 Malaysian ringgits while Worms Armageddon costs 39, and other titles listed at the latter price cost $9.99 on the U.S. store.
According to the games' descriptions, each PS1 emulation will be "enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters."
The ResetEra post also included screenshots of what these custom video filters are, with one option allowing you to essentially emulate visual style of the kind of CRT TV PS1 games were made for. Users can choose between Default, Retro Classic, and Modern visuals and can also change the aspect ratio.
While Abe's Oddysee wasn't listed in the list of more than 100 games confirmed for the new PlayStation Plus, the two Worms game were, and Sony has already revealed that more than 700 games in total are coming to the service.
It's also not the first time extra "quality of life" features have been added to PS1 games on PS4, as the Final Fantasy 7 port includes similar options such as the ability to fast forward.
