It's no secret that online gaming is becoming more prevalent year-after-year, and so too are the subscriptions companies are requiring of gamers to be able to access online content and game with their friends. One that has proved the most popular since the PS4 era and through to the PS5 era is Sony's PS Plus subscription, which allows gamers to play online for $59.99 a year and have access to free games every month. Every once in a while Sony sends non-PS Plus subscribers some love, and that's exactly what it is doing this upcoming Valentine's Day weekend, as PS5 and PS4 players can play online with friends for free without a PS Plus subscription.
Occasionally, Sony will roll out free weekends such as this one to give players perhaps on the fence about a PS Plus subscription a chance to try it out. Online multiplayer will be free for absolutely everybody this weekend no matter whether someone is playing on a PS4 or a PS5. Every game with online capabilities is free-to-play this weekend, but Sony has highlighted the likes of Monster Hunter World, Fall Guys, and NBA 2K22 as a promotion for the weekend.

The weekend of free online play is set for February 12-14 2022, so if some gamers out there are feeling the need to put some of the above games through their paces or maybe give Call of Duty: Vanguard or Destiny 2 a try, now is their chance. With the rather meaty Witch Queen expansion dropping for Destiny 2 on February 22, there has been no better time than this weekend to give the already free-to-play shooter a shot.
