Promethee 13:13, a new four-issue series from Ablaze Comics, mixes conspiracy thrillers, alien abduction narratives and the apocalypse into one of the year’s most satisfying science fiction comics. Originally appearing on the digital comics platform ComiXology, Promethee makes its print debut courtesy Ablaze Comics. Written by Andy Diggle, illustrated by Shawn Martinbrough and colored by Dave Stewart, the first issue is on sale now in shops nationwide.
Stories of alien abductions have become a pop culture fixture, thanks to books, television shows and movies such as Communion, The X-Files and Fire in the Sky. While no concrete evidence for the phenomenon exists, it still exerts a hold on our psyches; director Jordan Peel’s upcoming film Nope looks to keep the trend going. Andy Diggle and Shawn Martinbrough mine this territory to brilliant effect in Promethee 13:13. Ablaze Comics, which arrived on the scene in 2019, has quickly made a name for itself with a diverse array of titles, including a line of Conan comics that preserve the spirit of Robert E.
