This past weekend, Nintendo officially announced the next titles in Pokemon's main series. Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will introduce a new setting based on Spain, new Pokemon, and perhaps most interestingly, an open world to explore. The confirmation of Pokemon Scarlet andViolet's open-world has led many Pokemon fans to question whether the new games will adopt more of Pokemon Legends: Arceus' gameplay. A new official description for Scarlet and Violet, however, hints otherwise.
The official description for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet starts by acknowledging some key changes the new games will be making compared to prior games. With regard to Pokemon battling and capture, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be returning to the franchise's traditional style.

It's also a dramatic deviation from standardPokemon gameplay, which explains why Pokemon Scarlet and Violet won't include that feature.
While the description is unspecific, leaving room for eccentricities in the game design, it can likely be explained rather easily. Like in Pokemon Sword
