Some of these unexpected discoveries are the result of glitches or the game's AI doing odd things, but others appear to be scripted. Recently, one Pokemon Legends: Arceus fan drew attention to a clip showcasing what seems to be a very socially awkward Spheal.
Spheal is an Ice/Water dual-type Pokemon that looks like a round blue and cream seal, complete with a set of tiny walrus tusks. It was introduced in the Gen III Pokemon games, but it also makes an appearance in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The open-world elements of this title allow Pokemon to pop up in expected places at times, and one Spheal appears to take advantage of this.

Redditor lyss_blyss shared a short 20-second-long clip showcasing a conversation the player has with Adaman, the leader of the Diamond clan. At the beginning of the video, the Pokemon Legends: Arceus player and Adaman are shown standing by the water and a Spheal bounces up to them. The Pokemon proceeds to sit beside the pair, looking up at Adaman, until Adaman begins talking about a new form for Dialga. When the player is given the option to say «Whoa!,» the Spheal makes a loud purring noise and claps its flippers.
After clapping, the Spheal purrs again and then rolls quickly out of frame, as though it has become embarrassed and is fleeing before anyone can notice. This led lyss_blyss to dub it the socially awkward Spheal.
