While most video games stick to t-shirts and maybe the odd action figure when it comes to merch, Pokemon is a different breed. It started with a trading card game and 25 years later, you can now get just about anything officially licensed by Pokemon. Despite that, The Pokemon Company continues to come up with new and unique products, the latest of which is a Venasaur statue mid-Solar Beam that you can plug in and use as a light.
The Venasaur statue is the latest example of Pokemon's work with First 4 Figures, following in the footsteps of the Looming Shadows statue released in February. Like that statue, Venasaur's charging light figure has an interactive element. When plugged in via USB and activated using its button, that Solar Beam effect lights up, and it's presumably pretty bright considering the price and weight of the figure.
It's normally the height of video game statues and figures that are the best indicator of just how big they are, 19 inches of Venom and all that. At less than eight inches tall, the height of this Venasaur doesn't exactly back its $300 price tag. However, the fully-evolved Bulbasaur weighs an impressive six pounds, more than making up for the lack of height in its weight. Nowhere close to the weight of your average Venasaur in-game which clocks in at 220 pounds, but still a lot for a relatively small figure.
Pokemon's First 4 Figures Venasaur Charging Light Figure captures the fully evolved Kanto starter just as it's about to use Solar Beam. The Solar Beam effect lights up when the figure is plugged in and switched on.
No pre-order period for the First 4 Figures Venasaur. It's available to buy through the link above at the Pokemon Center for $299.99. The good news is that means the figure will be shipped as soon as you order and be with you within five to nine business days. The bad news is this isn't the
