A speedrunner has finished Pokémon Legends: Arceus in just over five hours, setting the current record for the game. The semi-open world spinoff was released only a week ago, and has rapidly become a standout critical and commercial success. Even compared to previous titles in the series, Legends is exceptionally popular, as evidenced by the number of retail sales records beaten by Pokémon Legends: Arceus upon its release.
The speedrunning community has always had a strong penchant for the Pokémon franchise as one of Nintendo's most beloved IP. Just a few months ago,Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl released and speedrunners immediately pounced on both versions. New record times are still being set for those remakes, with Buster_poke setting another Any% world record of 14 minutes and 31 seconds only a few days ago. Of course, that enthusiasm has carried over to Pokémon Legends, and the game's more open-ended nature has already resulted in some impressive speedruns.

Streamer and speedrunner eddaket has just set the current record for Pokémon Legends: Arceus at 5 hours, 8 minutes and 39 seconds. This follows his previous time of 6 hours, 29 minutes and 11 seconds, which had already been beaten earlier. These runs are in the Any% category, which involves finding and cleverly exploiting glitches to potentially skip through sections of the game. For reference, a normal playthrough of Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes about 25-30 hours, according to most players and sources.
