Pokémon GO is celebrating the Lunar New Year, and Shiny Litleo headlines the event. Like any other live service game, Pokémon GO often seeks to put out events aligning with major holidays, and Lunar New Year is no exception. This year being the year of the Tiger, it makes sense that a big cat Pokémon would be front and center.
As the year progresses, Pokémon GO is continuing to add new content and new reasons for gamers to keep playing or give the game a try. Recently Niantic announced that the game’s February Community Day will feature Hoppip, and February also sees the release of some new shiny Pokémon, including Deoxys and Espurr. Between this, the consistent raids being offered, and the return of fan-favorite Pokémon like Registeel and Regirock. It’s clear that Niantic wants to maintain Pokémon GO’s momentum. The latest attempt to do so comes in the form of a Lunar New Year celebration, making February a particularly packed month for Pokémon GO fans.

A Pokémon GO blog post announces the Lunar New Year event and puts Shiny Litleo front and center as the star. While fans might be able to encounter Shiny Litleo for the first time ever in Pokémon GO. They’re also more likely to come across several Pokémon during the events, including Para, Meowth, Growlithe, and Hisuian Voltorb in Pokémon GO. Raids will also offer certain Pokémon during the event, which runs from February 1st at 10 AM to February 7th at 8 PM local time. These certain Pokémon include the aforementioned Regirock, as well as others both legendary and not, and a few possibly being shiny as well.
