While Marvel and Star Wars will still assuredly keep us on our toes in 2022 -- with Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, and more -- there's a universe of TV out there that has nothing to do with major Disney-owned IPs. Okay, it might not seem like that some of the time but we still live in the era of "too much content" so to help you navigate through this next televisual year we've come up with a quick and easy rundown of the biggest new and returning shows headed your way.
Westworld, The Umbrella Academy, Barry, The Orville, Bridgerton, The Boys, and Only Murders in the Building are all back in big ways in 2022, along with new seasons of Atlanta, Stranger Things, and Evil. And if you're looking for spinoffs there's the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, Big Mouth offshoot Human Resources, the animated Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Tales of The Walking Dead, and The Witcher: Blood Origin.
There's also plenty of new shows to go around, from the HALO series to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to a new Tim Burton-directed Wednesday Addams series to (at long last) The Sandman. From popular '90s sitcom to dramatic streaming series reboot, Bel-Air spins Will Smith's The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air off from a fan film made by co-creator Morgan Cooper. This time, Jabari Banks plays "Will Smith," a Philadelphia teen involved in a gang fight during a street basketball game. With a gang leader now out for revenge, Will is sent to live with his Aunt Viv (Cassandra Freeman) and Uncle Phil (Adrian Holmes) in Bel-Air. Olly Sholotan co-stars as Carlton, Coco Jones
