Build-A-Bear is adding to its growing collection of customizable Pokémon plushes with some sporty new Pikachu offerings. The popular stuffed animal chain has allowed customers to create plush versions of plenty of Nintendo’s popular collectible monsters since 2015, with the most recent options being Flarion, Jolteon, and Vaporeon of Eevee’s branching Pokémon evolution line. Some of these Pokémon Build-A-Bear offerings include fun alternate outfits like Snorlax’s comfortable sleepwear, Meowth’s Team Rocket-themed hoodie, and even a warm, hooded cape for Pokémon Sun and Moon’s Alolan Vulpix — and many of them have come bundled with special Pokémon trading cards of their corresponding character.
As one of the most iconic and recognizable species in the Pokémon franchise, Pikachu was naturally one of the first to get a Build-A-Bear plushie modeled in its likeness. Aside from the standard Pikachu doll that was introduced in December 2015, fans can order a Pikachu wearing a red-and-white Pokémon anniversary T-Shirt with its own face as a logo, a Pokéball-themed hoodie, and even an adorable cosplay of the ferocious Charizard. Pikachu seems to have a new outfit for every occasion, even in spin-off games like Pokémon GO and Pokémon Unite, and now Build-A-Bear is introducing even more variants of the Pokémon franchise’s favorite rodent in time for the chain’s 25th-anniversary celebration this year.
