Sony has announced its first PlayStation State of Play event for 2022, which is set to take place this week and will kick off the month of February. With PlayStation exclusives like Horizon Forbidden West releasing in February, and God of War Ragnarök still yet to get a firm release date, many eyes are on Sony to see what else is on the cards for 2022.
Sony's State of Play events are some of the most highly-anticipated in gaming, with each new showcase announcement often dominating social media trending topics even before the event itself. Like Nintendo Directs, State of Play events give players a look at upcoming games, often revealing new gameplay, release dates, developer interviews, and more. Previous popular State of Play streams have focused on one game in particular, tempering fans' expectations by revealing the spotlighted game ahead of the big event. The last State of Play happened in October 2021, and instead looked at a range of games instead of one set title.

According to the PlayStation Blog, fans can expect "just over 30 minutes of new PS5 footage and gameplay details for Gran Turismo 7."
